Day of Caring

September 28, 2007

United Way Day of Caring<TM> is a one day event that brings together workplaces, employees, community groups and agencies to work on-site at community projects. Participating in the project promotes a deeper understanding of community issues, provides excellent team building opportunities and helps make Leeds & Grenville a better place in which to live and work. These hands-on projects allow workplaces and their employees to demonstrate social responsibility and to make a positive impact in the communities where stakeholders live and work. Projects completed through Day of Caring will help make a tangible difference in the lives of agency clients and allow local non-profits to focus more resources on front-line services. Our 2007 event took place on Friday, September 28.

Teams from 3M, Hydro One, UPS, Youth 2 Youth, and the Upper Canada District School Board participated in this year's event and we have some of the pictures here. For more pictures, or to obtain higher resolution photos of those shown here, please contact us. We'd like to extend a special thank you to Hydro One for sponsoring the day's event.

Tim doesn't like getting his picture taken

Hans and Franz (aka Andrew and Rodger) show off their muscles as they tidy up the back alley.

Three Youth 2 Youth Board members make a clean sweep of things in the Gift In Kind (GIK) Centre.

Youth 2 Youth Board Members and United Way Volunteer Extraordinnaire, Orma McDougall, work on cleaning up the GIK Centre

It's amazing what a coat of paint can do!

D'oh... missed a spot.

Sweep, sweep, sweep.

Aha! Now I can see you!

A huge thank you goes out to all of the teams! Watch for next year's Day of Caring and let us know if you have a project to do or a team to do one!
