Caring for Others is based on an age appropriate activity booklet developed by United Way of Leeds & Grenville to complement the Civics component of the grade 4 curriculum. With emphasis put on kindness, empathy, compassion, consideration, generosity and charity the student will learn the value of community and civic responsibility. Full of colorful illustrations and creative exercises, Caring for Others helps make learning about civic responsibility fun for kids.
Each exercise in the booklet works with the subject matter of grade 4 students, including reading and comprehension, creative writing as well as current and local events. The accompanying Teachers’ Companion guide provides opportunities to enhance the learning experience by incorporating field trips, classroom assignments and special projects.
Both the activity booklet and the teachers guide are ideally suited for incorporation into the classroom curriculum, or as a take home exercise for parents/guardians and their children.
