Day of Caring

United Way Day of Caring<TM> is a one day event that brings together workplaces, employees, community groups and agencies to work on-site at community projects. Participating in the project promotes a deeper understanding of community issues, provides excellent team building opportunities and helps make Leeds & Grenville a better place in which to live and work. Projects completed through Day of Caring will help make a tangible difference in the lives of agency clients and allow local non-profits to focus more resources on front-line services.

Our 2007 event will take place on September 28. This is also a scheduled PA day for area high schools, making it possible for students to participate and show that they, too, care and want to make a difference. (And, as an added bonus, youth participants will be able to earn hours towards their community service requirement for graduation.)

Some examples of projects may include beautifying a park, transforming a playground into a clean, safe place, building storage shelves for a youth centre, or painting rooms to brighten up a meeting area. These hands-on projects allow workplaces and their employees to demonstrate social responsibility and to make a positive impact in the communities where stakeholders live and work.

Teams are comprised of five or so volunteers. If workplaces are unable to commit five employees, we would be happy to combine more than one business together to make a complete team.
