Stocking Stuffer

Congratulations to Jeanne Fox Dibble from Cardinal who was the winner of our 1000 Islands Mall Stocking Stuffer. The event took place at the mall on November 27. The stocking was stuffed with gift certificate's and goodies donated from the store's within the mall and valued at $1500.00!! A huge thanks to Paula Sherwood, 1000 Islands Mall Marketing Director and all of the participating stores!

Run, Bike, Swim...

Four teams came out to battle for the title of 'Winner of the 2009 Indoor Triathlon'. The event took place Sunday, November, 22 at the YMCA. All of the reams final scores were very close, and collectively they raised over $10,000.00!! Check out the photo album for event highlights.

He Shoots...He Scores!

The third annual Hockey Night in Leeds and Grenville was a huge success, bringing in over $70,000.00!! MP Gord Brown along with fellow members of the MP Hockey Team took to the ice at the Leo Boivin Community Centre in Prescott.

NHL Alumni Leo Boivin, Noel Price, Kevin Kemp, Doug Smith, Todd Gill, Fred Barrett and Frank St. Marseille along with Cabinet Ministers Hon. Peter MacKay, Hon. Rona Ambrose and Hon. Gary Lunn were all in attendance.

Congratulations to James Knight from Oswego, New York, winner of the Luxury Travel Air Canada Raffle. James won two round trip flights to anywhere Air Canada Flies, a retail value of $10,000.00. The draw took place November 16 at our Hockey Night in Leeds and Grenville.

730 Truck Stop

Our first 730 Truck Stop Breakfast & Lunch took place on Thursday November 12, 2009 from 8am - 1pm. Local celebrity servers assisted the staff throughout the morning and 25% of the proceeds were donated to the United Way of Leeds & Grenville. Thank you 730 Truck Stop for your support and hard work!

Youth Summit

During the week of October 19-23 United Way brought Motivational Speaker Matt John Evans to all of the high school's across Leed's and Grenville. Matt's presentation takes students through the comical and confusing world of meeting challenges. The presentation is done in a stand-up comedy style with stories, jokes, and monologues to entertain and educate. Matt also spoke on the issues of risky drinking, drinking & driving, making responsible choices, and helping your friends to make smart choices. Little Black Book

The LBB is a resource book for teens, providing information and resources about everything from where to go if your looking for a job, have questions about sex, drugs, or alcohol, to youth drop in centres. The book covers all of Leeds and Grenville and was distributed in all of the high school's during our Youth Summit. BINGO!

Our annual Art Gala was a huge success! Our theme this year was bingo and it took place Wednesday October 21st at the Brockville Yaught Club. We featured over 70 pieces valued at $150 or more, all from local and well-known Canadian artists. Thanks to all who came out and supported United Way-we hope you enjoy your new piece of art! Also a big thanks to all of our generous artists for contributing their work.

Hold 'em or Fold 'em

Our First annual Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament was a huge success! Congratulations to Brian Throop who won a trip for 2 to Vegas. Runner up was Gloria Blinkhorn and in third place was Dave Wood. Thanks to all who attended.

Youth to Youth Board

The Youth to Youth Board is a great opportunity for students to learn philanthropy, ethics and leadership skills through hands on experience. They will gain skills in fundraising, communications, event planning and coordination, leadership and many other important areas.
