7th Annual Pricedex United Way Corporate 8-Ball Challenge

The time has come to break out of winter hibernation, chalk up your cue stick, and join the fun as Pricedex Software, together with 104.9 Hometown Radio, presents the 7th Annual Pricedex Corporate 8-Ball Challenge, with all proceeds benefiting the United Way of Leeds and Grenville. This year's tournament takes place on Friday, March 28th, starting at 12:30pm at the Broad Street Bar and Billiards at King and Broad Streets and Sam's Brass Racks on Perth Street.
Started over six years ago as a small group who got together for a fun 8-Ball Tournament that raised $1,000 for the United Way of Leeds and Grenville, the Pricedex Corporate 8-Ball Challenge is now the winter's 'Hot Ticket'. It is always an early sell-out that has grown into the best game in town before the golf season. This event has raised over $50,000 for the United Way since its inception, and, in 2007, because the United Way's largest special event, raising over 2% of the total United Way Leeds and Grenville annual fundraising goal, in a single, fun-filled afternoon.
This year the challenge is expected to raise over $20,000 for the United Way and its member agencies. As in previous years, teams will consist of 5 players. Each member will shoot 5 games of pool against players from other teams. The team with the best aggregate score will enjoy certain bragging rights and the first prize pick, but all teams and players will be winners, and will take home excellent prizes along with treasure memories of an enjoyable afternoon. Fun rules will be used so everyone, including novices, can play, and serious players will be able to shoot their games against each other with standard house rules, by mutual consent.

Team spaces are filling up quickly, and we have a very nice slate of prizes and items for our silent auction and Grand Prize Draw," stated Terry O'Reilly, Pricedex CEO. "This is our 7th year running this event, and we know that it will be an early sell out. One of the things that marks this event is its 'fun quotient' - everyone has a good time, nothing is too serious, with the exception of our fundraising efforts for the United Way. This year promises to be more of the same - and, for the players and the public, more activities in which to participate than ever before."
This is the first and largest special event in the 2008 United Way Campaign year - which promises to be a great year, and it is the public's first opportunity to seed the campaign. There will be even more activities for the public at this year's event, including a silent auction with some great items, such as Senators hockey tickets, tickets to the Stratford Festival, sports memorabilia, accommodations packages, power tools and much more. Other activities include a 50/50 draw, dart throws, and some very special event day raffles for great prizes. Everyone is invited to attend - to play, or to be a spectator and participate in other fundraising activities.
Sponsorships and prize donations are still needed for fundraising activities. Teams are also being accepted onto a priority waiting list, for a few of the 32 spots available.
