Supporting Communities in Times of Crisis


United Way Leeds & Grenville’s Emergency Response Grant provides rapid financial support to help communities, organizations, and nonprofits respond effectively during natural disasters, public health emergencies, or other major crises.

This grant ensures local organizations have the resources they need to deliver urgent relief, support recovery, and strengthen community resilience when it matters most.


Who Can Apply?


  • Registered nonprofits and charitable organizations
  • Community-based organizations
  • Government agencies and public institutions


Available Funding


  • Grants range from $2,000 to $20,000 (exceptions may be granted)
  • Funds must be used for direct response, recovery, or mitigation activities
  • Approved applications are disbursed quickly — typically within 7 business days


How It Works


  1. Activation
  • The Emergency Response Grant is opened in consultation with local municipalities and the United Counties of Leeds & Grenville when a confirmed emergency occurs.
  1. Application
  • Eligible organizations submit the Emergency Response Grant Application Form, along with a short narrative (max 2 pages) and budget/cost estimate.
  1. Review
  • Applications are reviewed by the Emergency Grant Committee and evaluated on urgency, alignment with community priorities, and organizational capacity.
  • Most applications are reviewed within 5 business days.
  1. Funding
  • Approved grants are issued quickly by electronic transfer or cheque.
  • Recipients must provide a brief final report within 60 days of fund use.
