Celebrating Community Leaders Making a Difference After 70
The Top 7 Over 70 event celebrates seven remarkable individuals in Leeds & Grenville who are continuing to make meaningful contributions to our community after the age of 70. These honourees show that leadership, passion, and impact do not have an expiration date.
Across our region, older adults are volunteering, launching new initiatives, mentoring others, and strengthening the organizations and causes that matter most. Top 7 Over 70 shines a light on those stories and recognizes the difference they are making today.
Recognizing Impact at Any Age
Top 7 Over 70 highlights individuals whose contributions have taken shape after the age of 70. This may include starting something new, building on previous work, or bringing fresh energy to an existing initiative.
Nominees may be making an impact in areas such as:
- Health and recreation
- Arts and culture
- Science and innovation
- Business and entrepreneurship
- Non-profit leadership
- Environmental stewardship
- Overcoming adversity
- Community service and advocacy
Rather than focusing on lifetime achievements, the program celebrates current contributions that are strengthening our community right now.
A Movement Growing Across Canada
The Top 7 Over 70 program began in Calgary in 2017 and has since expanded to communities across the country. Led nationally by the Top 7 Over 70 Canada, the initiative continues to grow as more regions recognize the value and leadership of older adults.
The program is about more than awards. It encourages people of all ages to think about how they can stay engaged, connected, and involved in their communities throughout their lives.
Supporting Our Local Community
Funds raised through the Top 7 Over 70 event will support the work of United Way Leeds & Grenville, helping strengthen programs and services that improve lives across our region.
Nominations
Nominations for Top 7 Over 70 opens April 14, with honourees recognized at a celebration event in October.
We invite community members to nominate someone who is making a difference and inspiring others through their leadership and dedication.
